There are many reasons why you would want an exterior door with a doggie door installed to enable your cute little doggie to access the world outside. Reasons include allowing your pet to take a piss, or maybe let him patrol the perimeters and guard your house against intruders. Other than that, your pet would also love to jump over the fence, dig under it or play with your garden plants. For times you want to limit these activities, the dog door should be locked from the inside. An exterior door with a dog door is a bright idea when properly installed and used to the fullest.
If you will be gone for long periods of time, it is advisable to keep the dog inside, with occasional human supervision, of course. Anyway, some trained pets know the right place where to piss inside the house. Here are some reasons why you would want your dog inside when there will be long stretches when no one is left in the house to watch over the dog:
• There are chances that someone can still get in your yard to steal your dog
• Your pet might discover entry to the real word (outside your yard) and get lost
• Burglars come in many sizes and through a small opening they can still penetrate inside
• Some strange animals may get inside your house especially raccoons, skunks, snakes, hedgehogs and the likes.
• Finally, your pet might just miss you when you are out for a longer period, and unless it is housetrained, it cannot amuse itself outside or inside the house.
A smart solution to all these worries is to install a doggie door with a lock or a pet flap which is radio-activated. It is not actually an anti-burglar device but it pays to be a bit cautious. It causes the thief to be a little hesitant to get inside the house because of this obstacle and the moment he resists it the dog had already barked like hell. Your dog is already a good house guard, and through some helpful gadgets, it can do its duties well without sacrificing its needs to go in and out.
With the latest technology, homeowners are much secured from unwanted intruders through electronic devices. An electromagnetic door opens in response to a key placed on your dog’s collar. The exterior door remains locked unless your dog comes in a distance of few inches from the door. The key on its collar sends off a signal to unlock the door, alas! Your cute dog can now go out or get inside whenever it pleases.
Now, your concern could be if the doggie door or pet flap stays unlocked and unforeseen scenarios might occur. Fear not! As soon as the dog leaves the distance mentioned, the door falls back and locks automatically. The whole system will just cost you a few dollars and with the benefits it will bring you will not bother thinking that is more of a luxury.
